We're all familiar with the routine scandals that seem to permeate the Washington political scene. It's outrageous to think that these elected officials would violate the trust of those that voted for them to serve their interests. Without trust, you have nothing. The Air Force Academy Honor Code states that "we will not lie, steal, or cheat, nor tolerate among us anyone who does." I have applied those commitments to my personal life and I promise you that I will serve our state with complete integrity, honesty, and conviction.
I will campaign on the issues, not the personalities of the other candidates. My overarching philosophy is America First, and this will be the cornerstone of my legislative goals. I will listen to all sides of an issue, but will not be swayed by lobbyists or special interest groups whose positions conflict with my guiding principles. I will strive to make our government more efficient, less costly, and less intrusive. I will seek to enforce and implement the Constitution the way it was written, not the way some creative judges would like to interpret it. On November 19, 1863 at the Gettysburg battlefield, Abraham Lincoln declared that "government of the people, by the people, and for the people shall not perish from the earth." It seems to me that many in our elected government on both sides of the aisle have forgotten the meaning behind Lincoln's historic words, and offer little respect to the voices of the everyday citizens who built this nation. I am running on the assumption that enough of those people will come forward and vote their conscience, regardless of party. I hope to have an opportunity to earn your vote. That's all I can ask for. |
