This list represents the first ten things I would do if I had the power of a benevolent dictator.  They are in random order, and the list may change and expand as new things come to mind.  These actions would be taken on day one, and day two would be just as exciting.

1. Eliminate all foreign aid.  Why are we giving away money we don't have?  We are even giving money to countries that hold some of our debt.  Why aren’t we using the money to pay off that debt?

2. Make English the national language and make it a requirement to become a citizen, attend school, and work in the
USA.

3. Abolish the Federal Reserve and send Ben Bernanke back to academia where he belongs.  For a guy that’s never had a real job, he's already done more than enough damage to our future.  No Ben, you can’t get away with printing money out of thin air forever.

4. Abolish the Departments of Education and Energy.  After spending billions of your dollars, can you name one significant accomplishment of either of these agencies?  While I’m at it, I’d also shut down the United Nations.  I’m tired of wasting money on an organization that accomplishes nothing other than providing a public forum for ruthless dictators.  (There will be more cabinet-level departments on my hit list beyond these two).

5. Cancel the space program and abandon the Space Station.  We've wasted enough money on it already.  The benefits of the space program ended with the first moon landing.

6. Seal the borders and expel all illegal aliens.  End all immigration.  We have enough people in this country already, and we can’t even find jobs for them.

7. Require people to work for the taxpayers in order to receive welfare and unemployment benefits.  If jobs are available in the private sector for which they qualify, force the unemployed to take those jobs or they lose their benefits.

8. Remove all American troops from
Korea, Iraq, and Afghanistan.  Cut all remaining foreign deployments by 75%.  It’s time that we made other countries pay for their own defense rather than sapping the American taxpayers for the money.

9. Eliminate the federal income tax and replace it with a federal sales tax, with no tax on food or clothing.  Do you realize how many millions of hours are wasted every year filling out tax forms?  Get rid of the
IRS and all the accountants who are performing functions that can be completely eliminated.  Put these people to work doing something productive.

10. Kill the recently passed health care bill.  We don’t need the same government that bankrupted all the other entitlement programs ruining our health care too.  Click on this link to view the lawsuit filed by thirteen state attorneys-general to kill it.

More things have come to mind, so I am now working on the list for day two.

11. Repeal the provision in the 14th Amendment to the U. S. Constitution that confers automatic citizenship to all persons born in the United States.  This provision should only apply to children born to U. S. citizens.  Let’s remove one of the primary incentives for the illegal aliens streaming across our borders.

12. Withdraw from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and take our money with us.  The contribution quota for the
U. S. is 17% and China is 4%.  Does that make sense?  Are you happy to know that your money in the IMF is helping to bail out Greece?  What country is next in line to get your money?

13. Initiate trade and diplomatic relations with Cuba.  I still don’t understand why we deal with China, but not with Cuba.  The only plausible reason is that China holds over one trillion dollars of our debt.  So, I guess money really does talk when it comes to deciding who the good guys are, and Fidel is obviously a bad guy.

14. Take enough oil from Iraq, at no charge, to pay for the entire cost of the invasion and occupation.  Iraq should be willing to pay for the cost of its liberation.  Unfortunately, we will never recover our soldiers who lost their lives in the process.

15. Prohibit building in areas subject to natural disasters.  I am tired of paying the bill to rebuild in these areas, time and time again.  New Orleans should have been given back to the alligators after Hurricane Katrina.  An entire city below sea level doesn’t pass the sanity test.

16. Impose term limits on all political offices and eliminate their pensions.  You serve one term and then go back to work in a real job.  That was clearly the intent of the founding fathers.
